Physics stands at a crossroads. Quantum mechanics and general relativity — the two great achievements of twentieth-century physics — remain, after a century of effort, fundamentally incompatible. The Standard Model, despite its predictive precision, requires 19 free parameters inserted by hand, never derived. The cosmological constant problem persists. The Hubble tension remains unresolved.

UVG 2.0 proposes a resolution that is, in retrospect, surprisingly direct: physical reality is entirely geometric. The physical vacuum is a structured Riemannian-Cartan manifold Mvac carrying a Lorentzian metric gμν, a torsion tensor Tλμν, and a non-metricity tensor Qλμν — all non-zero, all mutually coupled. Matter particles are stable topological defects of Mvac. The four forces are geometric gradients. The laws of physics are the self-consistency conditions of the vacuum manifold.

From this single framework, UVG 2.0 derives the Standard Model gauge group, the particle spectrum, the cosmological parameters, biological morphogenesis, and twelve specific quantitative predictions — none fitted to existing data.

The Seven Pillars of UVG 2.0

Seven mutually supporting structural commitments forming a coherent geometric account of physical reality

I

The Vacuum Manifold

Reality is geometry. The physical vacuum is a structured Riemannian-Cartan manifold Mvac carrying a Lorentzian metric, torsion tensor, and non-metricity tensor. No empty space exists — only geometric structure in varying degrees of excitation.

II

Matter as Topological Defect

Particles are stable topological defects of Mvac, classified entirely by the topology of the defect — Euler characteristic χ and winding numbers. The proton is a torus-topology defect (χ = 0); leptons are spherical-mode defects (χ = 2).

III

Forces as Geometric Gradients

The four forces are four directions in which Mvac can vary: Gravity = curvature Rμνλρ; Electromagnetism = counterspace coupling; Weak force = torsion gradients ∇λTλμν; Strong force = non-metricity gradients ∇λQλμν.

IV

Counterspace Duality

Every geometric structure in Mvac has a dual counterspace aspect in the projectively inverted manifold M*vac. Mass is a holographic projection from the counterspace boundary — an information-geometric quantity resolving the hierarchy problem.

V Ψ

Morphic Fields as Geometric Attractors

Biological form is governed by morphic fields — stable attractor basins in the vacuum geometric phase space. The UVG morphic field equation determines a coherence length Lm = 7.6 μm at 37°C, consistent with cellular-scale biological organisation.

VI

Harmonic Self-Consistency

Physical law is the set of self-consistency conditions of Mvac. A harmonic structure emerges naturally: the vacuum fundamental frequency is f₀ = 180 Hz (F♯3). The complete harmonic mode spectrum produces the F♯ Major chord — the universe sings in F♯ Major.

VII

Experimental Falsifiability

UVG 2.0 is a physical theory, not a metaphysical programme. Twelve specific, quantified, falsifiable predictions are enumerated in Chapter 20. The author's standard: if even three are confirmed at stated precision, the geometric programme has earned a permanent place in physics.

Michael Marsden

Chico, California · 2026

Michael Marsden is an independent theoretical physicist and author whose work sits at the intersection of differential geometry, Clifford algebra, projective duality, and the geometric interpretation of the quantum vacuum. UVG 2.0 is the culmination of a sustained research programme aimed at resolving the foundational incompatibility between quantum mechanics and general relativity, and the Standard Model's inability to derive the observed properties of elementary particles from first principles. Marsden writes in the tradition of geometric unification established by Riemann, Clifford, Einstein, Bohm, and Penrose — thinkers who consistently found that spacetime geometry, rather than quantum fields on a fixed background, is the most fundamental physical substrate. UVG 2.0 is released to the public domain as a contribution to open scientific inquiry.
